Cherry Coke or Lime Phosphate?

February 14, 2013 by Hubbard County Historical Museum Director

What was your favorite drink at Schmiders back in the day?

Schmiders Story (2)

I remember it being standing room only at lunch , after school and after games.  What are your memories of Schmiders?

My favorite was Cherry Coke how about you?

Cherry or lime? What kind of wacko would spoil the taste of Coke like that? Make mine plain any day.

My memories of Schmider’s were linked with Dahl’s Bakery next door-my grandparents’ bakery. The banana splits were my favorite. Don used to make a good hot dog with the machine on the counter. Had a crush on many of the gals working behind the counter in the 60′s. I now live in australia…last in PR in 2001. My Dad was editor of the enterprise in early 60′s. best wishes from down under!

Vanilla Coke! Remembering how very busy it always was after school and games. Music from the jukebox: wonder why in particular Riders on the Storm by the Doors sticks in my memory!? The pinball machines, people hit them with their palm to get maximum points, then “tilting” them if hit too much. Amazing that I never remember the place being too rowdy with all that energy. Thanks to the Schmeiders for their hard work and giving several generations of teenagers a place to hang out.

The best at Schmiders was the chocolate sodas they made. Everything was good and the current MinneSoda fountain is still a nice place too.
