Civil War Collection

August 16, 2013 by Hubbard County Historical Museum Director

Here at the Hubbard County Historical Museum we have the best Civil War Collection in Northern Minnesota.  If you have not visited our Military Room I urge you to do so.

One of the projects here at the museum is UV Film for the windows in the Military Room which houses the Civil War Collection.  We received a very nice donation from Itasca Mantrap Cooperative Electric Association and a donation from the American Legion Otto Hendrickson Post 212.  With those donations we are still $300 short of purchasing the UV film.  Donations are tax deductible and can be mailed to The Hubbard County Historical Museum PO Box 327 Park Rapids, MN 56470.

This is one of the firearms in our collection.

It was the major revolver used during the Civil War.

Please join us on Thursday August 22 for our Brown Bag Lunch Series.  Jim Jasken will be presenting “Arms of the Civil War” 12 Noon in the Military Room here at the museum.

This will be our last Thursday Noon program.  I hope everyone enjoyed this series of presentations.

    Food thought – and I’ve no answer…

“How would the Civil War played out if there had been “stiff, Newtown-inspired” gun control?

I can’t believe I never noticed your museum blog till today. It’s very well done and I’ll take more time to scroll back and look some more…
I’m not sure we’ll make it up to Mantrap this fall but when I do we’ll be sure to stop by at the museum for a closer look.
